St Padre Pio grew up in rural Italy at the end of the nineteenth century.  A Capuchin friar and priest; while his life was troubled by ecclesiastical difficulties, he continued to dedicate long hours to the confessional booth, guiding people in the affairs of life and the pursuit of God. He is remembered as a shepherd of souls, a stigmatist and a mystic.
