I have set such a choice before thee, life or death, a blessing or a curse. Wilt thou not choose life, long life for thyself and for those that come after thee?

In chapter 7 of his Rule, St Benedict advises us that God, in His mercy, grants us time in this life, to awaken to His call and to bear fruit worthy of repentance. Will we turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it or choose to fulfill our own will?

Run while ye have the light of life, lest the darkness of death overtake you.
