At that time Jesus said openly, Father, who art Lord of heaven and earth, I give thee praise that thou hast hidden all this from the wise and the prudent, and revealed it to little children.
Born in 11th century Germany with an array of serious physical disabilities, Herman was entrusted to the Benedictine monastery in Reichenau. Although living with a broken body, he possessed a brilliant mind and a generous heart. The polymath wrote works on theology, multiple languages, mathematics, astronomy and music. To this day he is remembered for some of the most beloved Marian hymns, the Salve Regina and the Alma Redemptoris Mater.
